More Bearing Crap

I know, I know! I can't even tolerate reading my own blog anymore...

I took the crank in to the machine shop today. They say the journals are right fringe for go/no go. The machinist was pretty insistent I get the journal specs for whatever bearings I decided to use. The following shots are from the Holy Grail Vandervell catalog.

I've been emailing back & forth with a lady at British Parts Source. You can tell she's had to chase odd parts for her own consumption before. She's been really cool. She mentioned they are working on a few old Brit bikes too (BSA, Triumph, Rickman).

I asked her if the bearings referred to .010" or .010mm undersize increments. I was semi-amused by her answer.

...have your machine shop give you the answer so if it is wrong it's his mistake and not yours or mine. The specs are both in mm and inches. -Mimi

Powdercoat is stalled. Motor is stalled. I'm ready to make some f-ing progress.

I am very confident that the references to bearing undersizes are in inches, relative to the diameter. Remember that the Brits were pretty late to the game with the metric system. We have them to thank for units like furlongs per fortnight...
