Dad's Help

Dad came over and helped me work on the Bonnie for a while today. I think I was finally able to sort out the sticky carb slide. Dad did a compression check. The RH cylinder only read about 30 PSI, left was about 90 PSI. He thinks the valves were adjusted improperly and that it may have burnt a valve. The problem cylinder is also the side with the hosed carb so the rings may be shot from oil starvation as a result of the excess fuel.

Title, Registration and Insurance

Got all the paperwork in order. Still have to get a MC endorsement. That will have to wait until it's running better.

It's Alive!

I finally got it started. Started after about 5 kicks once I replaced the plugs. Scarred Vaughn though, he's not quite as enthusiastic about the bike now. Still running pretty bad but at least I got to ride it.

Spark Problem

Still can't get it started. LH cylinder has no spark. Swapped spark plugs between cylinders and discovered the problem follows the plug. Replaced the plugs.

Rebuilt Carbs

Vaughn was quite excited about visiting Southwest Cycles to pickup carb rebuild kits. Rebuilt both carbs while he was taking a nap. Slide is still sticking in the RH carb, suspect the body is deformed from someone overt tightening the intake mounting bolts.
