4-Wheeled Post: Charger 440 RT

Very pretty 1969 2nd owner Charger I saw today. Still has the all it's original parts down to the factory AC, cruise control, and hub caps.

He told me that the stock broker who bought it new had to have the dealer respray the back to remove the stripe, because his wife thought it was too gaudy. Gues she was okay with the big block, however.

He also owns a 6000 lb immaculate 1942 Dodge military ambulance powered by a flathead 6 like the Plymouth. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum...

Decker Vincent

Jeff Decker posted some new photos of his nearly done Vincent custom. Given the way pipe wrap now torques off the "cool kids" I have to wonder if he kinda enjoys f@#king with people a little. It's a given he enjoys doing it to purists...

BMXA

For some reason I was thinking of the Bicycle Motocross Action magazine crew the other day (R.L. Osborn, Mike Buff, Bob Haro). I always wished I was cool as Mike Buff (not in the cards). Shame they never got the $$$ and women Dave Mira & tony Hawk did, they earned it!!

RL Osborn racing a horse through an obstacle course

Bob Haro cartoon, I can only assume this was drawn with Neil A. in mind.

Suicide Legion

Don't get me wrong, the Seattle Cossacks are cool as hell, I'm just not sure it's for me. Suicide Legion... I wonder if THEY'LL let me ride a Triumph.

Flathead 3

I was too damn amused by the following e-mail, I had to share:

The PW50 is officially on it's way. Aunt L got it shipped, and said the shipping was an early birthday present for Vaughn (either that or a very late one, depending on how you want to look at it). She wears the pants, so I didn't argue with her. Besides, it was very reasonable. I think she got a business discount.

It is UPS 4-day ground, but that's business days, so it's scheduled for
arrival next Wedneday. I hope Vaughn can wait that long. A week is a lifetime to a four-year-old...

By the way, I was jealous that Vaughn calls his bike
a "Fifty", because it sounds bigger than my (Harley) 45". So I calculated the displacement of his Yamaha in cubic inches... It's 3 cubic inches! That made me laugh. Henceforth, Vaughn's bike is known (to me anyway) as the "Flathead 3"...

Cool Aunt & Uncle or what?!

Two stroke performance is hard to sum up on paper. He may well still whoop your ass.

What's in the box?

I forgot to take a photo of the contents of the box, because it started to rain. Please tell Vaughn that it will be on the way starting tomorrow. More details to follow...

Wish I could be there to see it opened...

Norton

Normally I'm not a huge fan of "bass-boat" flake but this just rules!

Google Translate Required

Looks like my Olivia is going to be featured in the Italian motorcycle magazine Riders. They promise to ship me a couple copies when it comes out. I think these will be the first published photographs for Sydney too. Kinda cool.

Cannonball

I spent a little time poking around the Motorcycle Cannonball site this morning. I noticed some new entrants in addition to those like Dale Walksler, Jeff Decker, etc. that I found kind of interesting. Wayne Stanfield (the 60-something 5 time winner of the Great American Race and overall motorcycle super-hero), 24 year old Iron Butt knucklehead and overall motorcycle super-hero Matt Olsen. Corky Coker (Thanks for the tires, man), etc. I'm really looking forward to this event passing through ABQ.

XS650

I'm thinking if I had an XS650 right now it would probably end up looking more like this than a bobber.

UK Rod

I need help from a good old car guy like Flathead45 on this one. Is this a "leaned" model A grill? Everyone runs '32 grills on their model A rods now. This is kinda cool.

"Hey, wanna see my 50?"

V is ridiculously stoked about the PW50. I've been watching for one for a little over a year. Every time one pops up that I can afford it's gone before I can get to it. Huge thanks to all the Seattle Uncles for their help!

Seattle

Having too much fun to supply much detail.

V got a ride in Sarge

Flathead45 & I rode the HD's to somewhere on the East Coast to watch the Cossacks perform. It was really fun but the WLA didn't like being passed around like a groupie.

Transmission State-of-the-art

Story goes several years ago, Rockwell International decided to get into the heavy duty transmission business. They were getting ready to tape a first introduction video, and, as a warm up, the professional narrator began what has become a legend within the trucking industry. This is reported to have been strictly “off the cuff,” nothing written down.

Greasy Kulture

This was a cool surprise. I contacted Guy from Greasy Kulture about where to find the magazine in NM and he suggested they'd like to do a feature on my baby. I need to get some current photos shot. I got a kick outta the Decker/Crocker comparison given my last post.

Hippodrome Studio's Rolling Blasphemy

Anyone sick of seeing this Crocker yet? Tough.

Speaking of Jeff Decker, I recently checked the Motorcycle Cannonball route/schedule and they will be stopping in ABQ. Jeff Decker, Dale Walksler & 75 pre-1916 motorcycles. Should be pretty rad.

Church Show

My neighbor Bruce invited me to bring the Trump down to a monthly show his car club is helping to organize (Bruce recently gave me a Triumph clutch puller left over from his Triumph days). There was some cool stuff there, I didn't take pictures of even 20% of what was there. Ended up running into Norton Mike there & my bike ended up parked next to his Ducati 1098 which was kinda fun. Olivia was very well received.

One of my absolute favorites, a 1947 Offenhauser sprint car.

Next up, met a really interesting guy named Lee that came in this '67 Sunbeam Tiger. This car is kind of a hot rod. Ford 302, hand fabricated steel hood etc. He has another with 9,000 original miles, probably the most valuable Tiger in the world.

Lee had a rather amazing story about "smuggling" his Mexican bride into the US as a young LAPD officer on the back of a Norton Commando. His wife later forced him to buy an identical Norton to restore and display in their living room. Apparently the guy selling the 2nd Norton wanted an unreasonable amount for it but Lee's wife talked to his wife in order to "see" that a deal was made.

Happy Mother's Day

Kidney

I noticed it's been a while since I posted any pictures of Olivia...

One of the other girls in my life got her wisdom teeth out today. We planned it for my day off so I could take care of her. Needless to say I've been thinking a lot about both girls today. Bums me out sometimes that I'm a kinda sh@t photographer.

Anyone else notice V's not shy about getting in a picture? I love my kids!

Wait, but this picture doesn't suck... Thanks Syd!

Ryzart

This one's not entirely my taste but no denying his stuff rules. Love that silver leaf.

Falcon Kestrel

The details are super cool. From the video I'm not as wild about it as I thought I might be. Maybe the lighting is funky. I'm guessing actually riding a bike that took 2000 hours to build is out of the question. I really like riding my bike...

Side note - I e-mailed Ian Barry with a couple questions once and he not only responded but was cool as hell. My guess is you'd be hard pressed to find a cooler "celebrity" builder.

Pre-unit

Flathead45 and I were just talking about how to properly bake a pre-unit. Mmm tasty!

Platinum Bomb

I know aviation themed hot rods have been a little over done but the air speed indicator complete with pitot tube hood ornament is kinda novel.
