Racers get all the girls

Spintastic Voyage...

Dealer Stickers

Great thread going on over at the Jockey Journal about vintage dealer stickers. I might have to figure out how to make one. I've been thinking for a while that I might need a Filcoolator sticker for my oil tank.

Done Deal

So it's a done deal. The winning layout is #2/#3. At some point I couldn't stop seeing the Crocker similarities and I was done for. Your welcome to tell me what a brilliant decision I've made.

John Stromberg hasn't shared his opinion's much so far, I think he's trying not to influence my decisions too much. Can't be a bad thing when your painter says this about your decision, "This one is my favorite as well...I will send some more update pics as I finish parts up."

Dyno...

The Rain finally stopped today. Had to get the 45" out. Decided to try to find Thunder Valley Cycles, out in Maple Valley.

To make a long story a bit shorter, the 45" ended up on the dyno. After a brief delay to move a new Triumph Thruxton and track down stronger tiedowns to contain all that torque and horsepower ;<), we fired it up. I didn't have a camera, so no pix, sorry.

From the dyno run I learned:

My idle mixture is a bit lean...about 16 to 1
My running mixture is right on... at 14 to 1
My engine puts out a whopping 23 hp (which isn't bad for a 45"!)
My primary oiler needs to be adjusted to slow the drip. My Harley "marked it's territory" on the dyno.

Aaron and his son Cody are pretty cool. It will likely become a semi-regular haunt when I'm out riding with nowhere to go.

Trident Cafe

Check out this build thread on Jockey Journal. This guy has some really weird ideas but looks like the end product is gonna be kind of amazing.

Branch Deuce Roadter

I bought a hod rod rag this weekend that has a feature on Tom Branch's 32 Ford roadster. I can't stop looking at. Traditional and original at the same time.

'66 Triumph

IMO it's hard to beat a Triumph with a stock tank. This one is still nice though. I really like the rear fender paint layout. The Cub style oil tank is cool. 21" front wheel works well on this particular bike. If I'm not mistaken that's a Cub front brake too.

Vintage Photos Plus

TT Challenge

I saw this on the Vintagent. It's a single page from a graphic novel of sorts about the 1922 Isle of Man TT. Kinda stunning.

Crazy Chris's Bike-O-rama

I was checking out some photos of a bike Chris from Kent has listed on Craigslist and stumbled across some pics of the compound. I'd kinda forgotten how cool some of his stuff is. I'll have to visit again some day.

More Paint OCD

I noticed this bike on eBay. The paint on the rear fender is very comparable to what I'm planning to do (similar sized strip on a similar sized fender).

Flathead45 has recommended painting the "Triumph" portion of my badges the same color as the pinstriping. I just can't say I'm a fan of that. It always strikes me as a little cartoonish. The fact that it always seems to be done in a fashion reminiscent the makeup on a Parkinson's inflicted show girl has no doubt tainted my opinion somewhat.

Xmas List

Too funny. I don't think this is the same "kit" I posted previously but it's really similar. Right in Flathead45's backyard too. I wonder if it will fit a 45"... Talk about a practical gift.

Tijuana Reject

Not really my taste but it sure is pretty. Apparently built by a professional welder that was able to do a lot of trade for paint work.

80's Flashback

Please forgive the 4-wheeled post, but I stumbled across this picture from the mid-eighties... Man those two guys look young!

Pinstripe Color

Joey helped me digitally compare the pinstripe sample below to other known colors. If this isn't the same color it's way close.

Pinstripe Sample

I was poking around looking for blue striping on a similar base color. I'm amazed I found something this close. I like it.

This picture rules!

Shovel

I'm not totally convinced about the rail thin 21" front tire but otherwise I love this bike. I know, I know, there are more than a few similarities between it and my Triumph. I can't say exactly why but I just love generator Shovels.
