Evel

I was mildly annoyed while watching the coverage of Travis Pastrana’s Ceaser’s Palace fountain jump that they keep inferring to how Evel always used big heavy American v-twin jump bikes. I suspect he was really only concerned with performance. In addition to the XR750’s he used Triumph TT’s, Laverda’s and others. 

Jolene Van Vugt was there to support Travis the day after Vaughn and I met her in Seattle at Dirt Fish.

Also, by no means do I intend to minimize what Travis did but Mike Metzger actually did a backflip (on a motocross bike) over the fountain in 2006. Daredevil’s have evolved a lot over 50 years of embracing Evel’s legacy. 

Solace

It probably only solidified my psychosis but I find solice in other people’s restoration projects that allow me to say “Well at least I don’t have it that bad.”

I've been hunting for this manual for a while now. It was originally written for cyclists but I'm told the methods are equally applicable to motorcyclists.

Mobil Gas

Porsche 911's spotted almost side-by-side at the recent SOVREN event. This first is the standard Mobil gas Pegasus. The second, I'm guessing, is a play on the legendary Porsche 917 "Pink Pig." Pretty funny.

Porsche thrilled fans by reviving the "Pink Pig" paint scheme on their GT car at Le Mans this year.

My son Vaughn's favorite car at the recent SOVREN race was this incredible 1971 Porsche 917 originally driven by George Follmer. This matching Honda pit bike was pretty cool too. George even signed it. George was born the same year as my Dad.

DirtFish SummerFest 2018

My son Vaughn spotted that the DirtFish SummerFest was coming up and given his interest in both rally racing and becoming a student driver at DirtFish he decided we should be there.
