Phoenix 2016

One of the aspects I was most excited about when considering the move to the Seattle area was it being a regular Supercross stop. We made it to two races before AMA Supercross pulled out of Seattle. Because my wife rules and my son is cool they made up for it this year by planning a trip to the Phoenix race. Well worth it, we had a blast.

We came home with a million great stories. One of the best involved Christian Craig winning the 250 class. Rewind to a year ago and Craig had quit racing Supercross and was working a fulltime construction job. Phoenix was Craig's first ever Supercross win. This first victory was well deserved and the fans went crazy when he won.

The next morning my whole family was a little preoccupied hauling all of our crap down into the elevator for check out when someone clearly Supercross affiliated joined us on the elevator. My wife made a little conversation by asking if the new occupant was involved with the race or actually raced the previous night. He replied "I'm Christian Craig, I won the 250 class last night." He didn't seem offended or anything by not being recognized but he was clearly still elated with the win, he was still grinning eye-to-eye. Pretty cool. I don't think any of us will have any trouble recognizing him the next time around. Phoenix was a great time. We are already making plans to go back.
