Madrid Christmas Lights

I think I’ve posted this before but it’s worth posting again. This post was borrowed from Hank-William Buelow in the Albuquerque Memories FB group.

“Merry Christmas from Madrid, the most Christmas town in all of N.M. well back during WWII! TWA used to divert their airplanes to fly over Madrid at Christmas so the passengers could see the lights. Walt Disney has said that Madrid at Christmas was his inspiration for the "Main Street Electrical Parade" at the Disney theme parks”

Speedway Park - 1968

From Joe Sherwood’s post in the Remembering Speedway Park FB group.

Otis Rich’s Sportsman sits outside Speedway park one night in 1968!  Which led to a dozen or so racers boycotted Speedway park and going to Raceway

Below is from a day race in 1968. It looks nearly identical to how I remember it 10-12 years later.

Albuquerque Dragway

David Campos lines his bored, stroked, ported and cammed Honda mini on alcohol against this killer unknown drag bike. The photo appears to be from the mid to late sixties.

Roger Harvey

I recently discovered the art of Australian artist/cartoonist Roger Harvey. Pretty fun. I think if Willie had opted for the reliability of a Japanese MXer he may have caught the Road Runner by now.

Putting a new Allison V1710 into a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk during WWII somewhere in the Pacific.

Dale Walksler’s XA

Dale Walksler’s civilianized Harley Davidson XA almost looks like a Seattle Cossacks survivor. Pretty cool bike.

Yamaha TX750

I absolutely love this Yamaha TX750 built by GarageGnome. The hand built aluminum bodywork is a work of art and I was totally sucked in by the Molly the Painter style Yamaha strobe stripes.

Fat Guy in a Little Coat

I guess weird pop culture references are my thing this week. Gotta love the Gee Bee.
