Albuquerque Karting

I believe this is a photo of the Albuquerque Karting Club taken in 1955. I believe the guy kneeling in the center with the trophy and the Wayfarers is Eddie Corbin. Eddie’s father owned a shop that sold karts and mini bike stuff.

Albuquerque Dragway

From the History of Albuquerque Drag Racing FB Group. The following was posted by Lyle Greenberg:

In the early 1970's, Albuquerque was practically the center of the Nitro Harley universe. There were 3 nationally competitive bikes all based here - Dave Campos, Jerry Cox and Bobby Abels. I am not sure if Abels is still alive, but I see Cox and Campos several times a year. These guys were the pioneers that paved the way for Doug Vancil and other guys that run the low-6 second times of today.
These pictures are Jerry Cox in 1974.

Speedway Park

This is a reposting of an account posted by Kenny Campbell on the FB forum Remembering Albuquerque Speedway. I don’t know Kenny but just think it’s a neat story and like to preserve any New Mexico race, track, shop, club history wherever I can.

My hero, Al Demaree.  Larry and I were best friends and Al sold me his 1946 Ford coupe for $300.00 in 1959. Al was a great teacher and I learned a lot hanging out in his garage. Lots of great memories. He always called me Mr. Kenny. After l blew up the flathead he helped me put a 283 Chevy V8 in it, he was “The Man”.
