Playland

I never even knew this existed. Playland, a “permanent” amusement park installation opened 5/11/1947 on West Central. It was relocated to the the fairgrounds (in the area the flea market was later hosted) in 1954. This photo is from 1955.

The game room was a retired C-97 Stratofreighter fuselage. 

 Here are other photos I was able to track down.




Evidently the land it sat on was sold 5/5/1968.

Super Chief

The Super Chief in Albuquerque 1943. My all-time favorite diesel locomotive.
