I spotted this over at GeordieBiker. Even if I wasn't both a Triumph fan and a "cat guy" this is a pretty damn cool piece of art.

Prime-time Pre-Unit
I happened to catch this tattoo in passing on a prime-time reality TV show recently. It belongs to Erin Willett, a contestant on "The Voice" and "Biggest Loser." Granted, it's hardly newsworthy but it seems like unusual subject matter for a twenty-something woman. I wonder if there's a story behind it.
Ran When Parked
1965 ESO Rickman Metisse - I love motocross and it has played some part in my entire life. That said, there aren't a lot of MX bikes that make me sappy from a vintage motorcycle perspective (obviously bikes my heroes rode like Bob Hannah's 1979 Yamaha YZ250 OW40 don't count). This bike is simply stunningly beautiful.

Bomber Gas Station 2.0
I've posted content on the B-17 gas station in Milwaukee, Oregon before. I was pleased to see The Old Motor has put together a wonderful feature on it. As I've mentioned previously I recall vividly see the station as a kid, my Dad always enjoyed pointing it out. As is often the case as a small kid the whole station seemed so much bigger as a kid.
I did a fair amount of research on this a few years ago and don't recall finding B-17 Alliance or the Art Lacey Story. I've heard several stories about how the B-17 station happened but I don't recall hearing about the $5 bet that set it all off.

Great Dirt Dyno
Ever wonder what it looks like to sit-on 650cc pushrod Triumph and set a speed record. Naturally aspirated open class with no fairing. Pretty incredible.
Onboard video of the Alp Racing 650 A/PF Triumph land speed racing bike at the El Mirage dry lake in Southern California, it currently holds four SCTA world records and two national AMA records.

2 Stroke Candle
From Bike-urious. Not even I am this psycho about 2 strokes:
"Got a 2-stroke fan in your life who’s been missing that distinctive smell while the snow’s outside? Flying Tiger Motorcycles has got you covered with a candle made with 2-stroke oil!
I’m guessing it’d be safer to burn this candle then to run your 2-stroker in your living room or man cave. The candle is made from 2-stroke oil and soy wax with a wood wick.
The candle is $20 and can be ordered here."
Actually I've been thinking a 2 stroke flavored beer might be the way to go. Premix Porter? Plug Fouler IPA? Auto-Injector Amber? Let me know if you have any brilliant name suggestions.

Ran When Parked
1973 Redline Yamaha RD100 - Every so often I see a bike I'm actually thankful I don't have the cash to buy "just 'cuz." This one definitely fits the bill. Redline began business building race frames similar to Trackmaster and others. I believe they even did some dragster and race car stuff early on. They eventually landed squarely in the fledgling BMX industry much in the same way some of their early competitors did like GT bikes (Gary Turner), JMC and Littlejohn did. The rest is history. It's way too easy for me to get sappy about that stuff.
So to start with it's 2 stroke which almost automatically makes me throw rational thought out the window. Add to that all the birth of BMX stuff and I could just get stupid. Good thing it's not an RD400. It doesn't hurt any that Redline's corporate offices are now in Kent, Washington.

Ran When Parked
1959 Yamaha YD2 - I can't really put my finger on exactly what I like about this bike. There's a fine line between patina and yard art. This bike is skirting that line hard. Still cool though.

Siege's 7th Annual VINTAGE RACING MOTORCYCLE SHOW
Just a reminder, the vintage racing show is next Saturday at Lawless HD from 11-6. It's a fun event with just the right timing to bridge the motorcycle event drought that is the Pacific NorthWest this time of year.

Dockside USA
Another gem from Speed Track Tales.
"Photo of a dockside scene. 1950 A freight ship called Coventry City, a US dock with trucks loaded up with crates of Triumph Motorbikes long before containerisation… so answers on the back of a postage stamp please…. British Industry and the motorcycle.. where did it all go wrong?"
Maybe my '51 is in there somewhere.

Red White Shadow
The authenticity of this bike has been the topic of much debate recently. Someone is $434,000 (including premium) convinced it's legit one-of-one. The Vincent Owners Club seem pretty convinced. The previous owner has VME ties. Given the percentage of bikes that went for shockingly low prices I'm really glad the sale went well for them.
