The Transatlantic Trend 2.0

Flathead Rob and I had the Indian and my '51 Tiger out together for perhaps the first time that I recall. It reminded me of one of my all-time favorite Edward Turner pieces. I've posted this article before but it's cool enough I thought it was worth sharing again.

Anyone besides me notice the difference in scale between John's photo and the article? We certainly think of the Indian as analogous to a full-size Cadillac, and the Triumph as more like a Jaguar roadster, and, truth be told, that impression is upheld when you ride both. But the photo in the article show the Triumph as physically diminuitive compared to the Chief, whereas John's picture shows them as closer in size, albeit not weight. Maybe it's part optical illusion; the Triumph is on its center stand, and the Indian is not, and the 16" vs. 19" wheels may exaggerate this effect. Suffice it to say, having ridden both, that the Triumph would definitely be the preferred mount for tight, twisty turns, and the Indian might have a slight edge for long hauls. I would be happy to own both.
