Pre-Unit Aviation

From Small City Cycles blog.

Let me go on record... I don't trust the engine I'm building for the '51 this much.

Paint Update

I ordered paint today. Everyone I've talked to has recommended ordering paint from Don Hutchinson. Don seems like your typical old Triumph guy, he had no hesitation in giving me a hard time. Don confirmed in '51 Triumph would have used Silver Sheen with a black center stripe and blue pinstripes. I ordered the blue to do the pinstripes too.

I've seen some photos with white pinstripes, sorta like the fenders in bottom left photo above. I was growing pretty fond of that look but am now thinking I'll probably go instead with what was "correct" for '51. Vaughn is still pissed at me for not painting it blue. Maybe adding the blue pins will help...

More rambling. A crappy photo of a photo, Silver Sheen with white pinstripes.

Some pics of a '47. Silver Sheen with blue pins.

Depth of Field

I forwarded the following photo to a couple of my photographer friends, I'm such a sucker for depth of field stuff.

Photographer extraordinaire Stephen Cussen responded with his own depth of field shot. My old girl still cleans up pretty good.

Pondering Paint

SS Thistlegorm

Need a restoration project? Nortons, BSA's and the truck to haul 'em. A locomotives is going to be a bit more work to bring to the surface. Only 100' down. What the hell are you waiting for? SS Thistlegorm

City Different Sodium Report

Hmm. I REALLY need to see what Jim Mosher is up to.

Knuckle Climber

Now that's a Knuck.

Family Decals

Not motorcycles related but too funny.

I've been thinking for years I wanted to make up a dysfunctional family decal (parents on either side of kids with arms folded, 3 legged dog, goth son, slutty daughter, whatever). This one is much funnier.

Fonzie's Triumph For Sale

I don't typically get all misty over celebrity bikes save a handful of notable race bikes everyone on earth does. This one might be an exception. It's pretty damn cool.

How cool is the first paragraph of Cycle World's story?

The phone rings at Mean Marshall’s Motorcycles, a dealership in Oakland, California. It’s Bud Ekins calling from North Hollywood, where he has several hundred motorcycles stashed in a couple of dirt-floor Quonset huts. “Marshall,” he barks, “go empty your bank account.” “Why?” fires back Marshall, standing behind his grease-stained parts counter. “Because you’re coming down here and buying my bikes,” Ekins roars.

I'd WAY rather own that this say the Dukes of Hazard Charger every guy my age seems to dream of owning.
