I hate to
hear about the death of any motorcycle brand. That said, I remember thinking Indian would likely poach Victory's already smallish market segment when Polaris announced it's purchase. I've always respected Polaris so I hope this is not an indicator they are otherwise financially hurting. I'm certainly starting to see a lot more Indians out on the road. Hopefully Polaris just decided they no longer need Victory. I admire Polais' commitment to support Victorys with parts and repair service for the foreseeable future.
I've often joked that Georgia O'Keeffe must have been a design consultant for the rear end of every Victory. Joking aside, the American cruiser/bagger market segment is not the most "adventurous" (I'll be more direct - effeminate paranoid) buyers on the planet. I wonder to what extent that genuinely might have hurt them. Victory was "in business" for 18 years so hopefully not much.
Farewell Victory. Here's hope your passing ultimately results more Indian sales.

Comments on some vintage Indian blogs seem to indicate that this may have been Polaris's plan all along as soon as Indian showed signs of life.
