Random Photo

Flathead Rob rescued this photo from a local antique store. General consensus seems to be it's a '35-'36 VL.

Roots

Olivia spotted a long lost friend from the homeland the other day.

Atomic Trent - Born Free 6 Update

Atomic Trent received another much deserved invitation to participate as an Invited Builder at Born Free 6. Trent is a super talented guy and incredible fabricator. Many of his bikes are flat-out legendary in tradition chopper circles.  More importantly if I had to jump on one of the "Invited Build" bikes for a 1500 mile unsupported ride his bike would be the only choice. He's is also one of the most solid guys I know. Humble and and always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge.  There are way too few guys like him.

So what is he building? Here are a few progress photos. It's gonna be a wild one.

Ran When Parked

1926 Henderson Four - Lovely bike. It's the same year as my buddy Tom's Henderson Four.

Ran When Parked

1953 Triumph "Race Kit" T100 - It's a shame the photos aren't better. I think you could easily blow through $5,000 - $7,000 putting together a race kit if this bike is legit. It's hard to tell what's even there. This listing just seems odd...

45 CI

One of several very nice photos Dice posted from the HD museum.

Harley Davidson ST-165

This is a photo of the HD ST-165 Flathead Rob and I are working on from August 1969. Rob's wife's uncle bought it new in late 1957.

Everything on the bike was painted with a bush. Uncle Wally was a child of the Great Depression and a sailor so everything was preserved with paint. It was well preserved. People would kill for a Panhead this well preserved. It also resulted in a little archeological dig.

It's going to be returning to original paint.

From both a personal historical and a design perspective this has been a pretty fascinating project. The HD lightweights, originally built by the German company DKW, show remarkable design from a quality vs low pricepoint perspective. It's a pretty cool bike.

Ran When Parked

1938 Harley Davidson ULH - I'm pretty confident I've posted this bike before but I sure like it. It's like a grown up WR racer. You could own it but the link is probably not safe for work (NSFW).

Nancy & Pancho

I spotted this over at GeordieBiker:

Nancy Debenham, with pet hound Poncho sitting on the tank, wheels along happily in this late twenties photograph. Along with her sister Betty she paved the way for young ladies newly empowered with the equal voting age act with their 1928 book ‘Motorcycling for Women.’
