My son Vaughn found the perfect sports car for me. The Melkus RS 1000, a somewhat doofy looking East German clone of a Ferrari GTO powered by a 103. HP 3 cylinder two stroke. If you had a car that sounded like that you'd never need a radio.
Curious how East Germany landed on a two stroke? The same way Japanese motorcycles did. The surprise origins are the same, the V2 rocket. The whole story is completely captivating and very well told in the book Stealing Speed. It's one of my all-time favorite motorcycle books.
Maybe I should just build a TZ750 powered Sprite instead.
