Interesting day at Coffee at Dawn yesterday. Rode up in a group ride with the Duke City Rockers and the NM Chapter of the Pharaohs. Unfortunately I rushed out and forgot to take a camera.
We saw a couple of interesting bikes.
Who knew Norton made a factory built "chopper" call the Hi-Rider to capitalize on the Easy Rider craze? Pretty butt ugly and apparently a significant marketing flop. It's kinda like Ducati building a boulevard cruiser today.
We also saw a 1953 BMW R51/3. Perhaps the only "elegant" BMW horizontally opposed twin I have ever seen. Cool as hell. Some guys were setting up a comparison photo with it and a modern BMW GS. Gotta remember my camera...
