Rayson's Exhaust

I've been planning to run Triumph 1950's T100R/RR style flat track pipes on my current project almost since it's inception. I've looked at building my own, talked to several sources that have made or or suggested they could potentially do a limited production run and damn near everything in between. I was pretty stoked to see Rayson Exhaust's post this week. I been chasing this for more than 4 years now so I'm cautiously optimistic but Rayson's seems like a pretty cool business in concept. Hard not to like the guys for a motorcycle history geek like myself.

"We've absolutely loved working on our latest exhaust system, after being asked multiple times by our American followers over the past few years, we finally had an opportunity to replicate a set of Triumph T100R pipes, albeit on a modified, rigid framed Triumph TR5.
Our good friend and customer wanted to replicate the iconic exhaust system for his flat track build, and we totally love the style of them, the sweeping curve of the left hand pipe has a touch of vintage class, mixed with loud and rowdy twin stacked open megaphones on the rear!
We can't wait to see this bike finished off, it's going to be a real head turner, we'll be sure to get some pics and maybe a quick video provided our cameras microphone can handle the noise!"

I can only guess what the entire exhaust system with overseas shipping might cost...

BMX Practice Gate

I told my son I'd build him a practice gate once he'd run 5 races. Theoretically tomorrow is number 4 so I guess I had better get on it. On initial investigation I was looking at something like the RRP Gates but I couldn't find a re-seller or pricing anywhere. I could scratch build something similar but I'd like to have some idea how much it will get used before committing the money and time.

While hunting for some simpler plans I stumbled across the actual gate I built myself out of Bicycle Motocross Action when I was exactly my son's age back in 1979. As a nostalgic old man that seems hard to refuse, at least for the time being.  I remember that gate making a very dramatic impact on the number of races I won. Starts are king in BMX.

Decker's Crocker

My buddy English Stephen sent me these close-up photos of Jeff Decker's Crocker hot rod several months ago but I hadn't gotten around to posting them yet. When I met Jeff a couple of year ago at the Cannonball I admitted to borrowing the idea for the oil tank on Olivia from his Crocker.  He was really cool about it and wanted to see it. Even tried it on for size.

1951 Cooper Mk5

I've mentioned the Copper F3's sometimes powered by race kitted alloy Triumph 500's here before. I was pretty stoked to happen across this real deal Mk5 at the 70th Cooper reunion get-together this past Sunday. I guess a JAP is still pretty cool if you can't have a close-pitch fin alloy Triumph 500.

Pacific Northwest Historics Vintage Racing

Thanks to Rob and Vaughn for braving the weather and making the trek out to Pacific Northwest Historics Vintage Auto Racing with me today. It was a pretty good time.
