Bobby J's

Flathead Rob pointed out this nice video biography of Bobby J's Yamaha in Albuquerque, NM. The piece claims Bobby J's is the oldest Yamaha dealer in the US. The Johnson's opened Bobby J's carrying Indian in 1954 and swapped to Yamaha in 1958. Bobby J's is the first place I purchased parts from, at 8 years old.

I remember riding the city bus to Baby J's to get parts for John's GTMXA, since I wasn't old enough to drive. I am confident that my mother remembers hauling us over there too.

what a lovely video...and for anyone that might be watching that doesnt know the johnsons...every word is true and yes, the johnsons are as nice as the video makes them seem...

just as stanley johnson described riding around near the dealership till he ran out of gas and then getting a fill and riding some more, so did i and others and we were just local enthusiastic kids, not family. i exaggerate a little when i say you couldnt buy a motorcycle from bobby j's without riding it first...and i dont mean a controlled test ride, i mean take it out for as long as you need to help you make a decision...hours...

bought my first from them in 1969, bought my most recent about a month ago...

its nice to know that keith is planning to carry on...every potential customer ought to have the opportunity to be treated as both a customer and a fellow enthusiast...
