The one event I look most forward to every year is the South Prairie Fly-In. It has historically happened around the first week of May. I've done some asking around and the best I can tell it will not be happening this year.
Glen Cawley's grandson Clint posted this comment on the Pacific Northwest Flying forum back in January 2016.
Jay and I have decided to postpone the annual Fly-In until further
notice. Without a permanent resident at the airport to plan and organize
something of this magnitude we decided it's in everyone's best
interests to postpone. I plan on moving in to the residence and assuming
the duties and responsibilities of my grandfather once the estate has
been finalized but that date is still somewhat uncertain. We thank
everyone for their attendance and look forward to seeing you all again
in the future once things have settled a bit. We do plan on reinstating
at some point and look forward to having everyone over for a old
fashioned good time! Please don't hesitate to call with any questions
or advice! I'm all ears!
Thanks so much to the Cawley family and everyone else who busted their tail-dragging tails to make this event happen in the past. It was really something special. My now 11 year old son literally counted the days until the event every year. I genuinely hope it does make a comeback. In the event it doesn't though, thanks for the memories.
