Fender Fit

I finally got back to fitting my fender correctly. I didn't make much in the way of changes to the mounting holes, mainly just made certain the rubber mounting shims were absolutely identical. It's not perfectly centered but not so far off it's the first thing I notice every time I look at it.

I notched the fender to clearance the chain too. I thinking about taking the hardtail in for powder coating this week.

Looks really good to me. I can't see any evidence of lack of centering in to photo, and the radial spacing must be about right too, because the fender radius seems perfect when compared with the tim and tire. Look at some pictures of other bikes on the 'net, and you'll realize that there are a LOT worse out there...

My Dad likes your site, btw. Also, I found out last night that he gave away his old Bultaco. Gave it! I didn't know that Bultaco was banned from selling in the states long ago because they built their bikes with the shifter and brake reversed and refused to change the design.

That sux. Some of the parts from '70's era motocross/trials bikes are really desirable by chopper folks (Betor forks, gas tanks, bars, pegs, alloy rims, etc.). I hope it doesn't end up parted out on eBay.

Glad to hear your Dad approves.

My Triumph has the same shifter/brake setup. It truly almost screws me up more than the hand shift/foot clutch on Flathead45's WLA.

It doesn't really matter how hard you stand on the shift lever, it just doesn't slow you down much...
